The relaxing zellige puzzle

Place tesserae on an 8 × 8 board, complete the golden motifs and restore twelve places of the Maghreb and Andalusia. No timer, no lives to wait for.

The courtyard: the fresco of the current place, the Play button, the daily challenge and shortcuts to the shop and the gallery.
A game in progress: an 8 × 8 board of glazed tiles, the highlighted golden motif and three pieces in the rack.

How it plays

A block puzzle with a motif to compose on top of the lines.

  • Three pieces wait in the rack. Drop them wherever they fit; once all three are placed, three more arrive.
  • A golden motif is always active on the board. Fill every one of its cells and it bursts.
  • Fill it with a single colour for a perfect harmony: the points double and neighbouring tiles of that colour shatter in a chain.
  • Full rows and columns clear too, as in any block puzzle.
  • A game ends when no piece fits any more. Never because of a clock.
The Riad Journey: a vertical map of levels with the reward of each step.

The Riad Journey

Twelve places, from the Nabeul potteries to the Ben Youssef Madrasa, five levels each.

  • Every level restores one panel of the fresco of its place and grants a reward: golden tesserae, a maâlem's tool, a medallion, a board frame.
  • Finishing a chapter unlocks its tile theme, and an artisan title arrives every other chapter — from apprentice to golden maâlem.
  • Each chapter has its masterpiece: a rare motif that shows up once per game and is worth triple.
A motif sheet: the large pattern, its statistics and its Artisan's notebook note.

The Artisan's notebook

Behind every motif and every theme there is a craft. Its sheet tells the story in two sentences.

  • The pottery of the women of Sejnane, shaped without a wheel and on UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list since 2018.
  • The Qallaline faience that made Tunis famous in the 17th and 18th centuries.
  • The yellow and green glazes Andalusian craftsmen brought to Nabeul.
  • The word “tessera” itself, from the small hand-cut cubes of the Roman mosaics kept at the Bardo Museum.
The potter's challenges: three daily challenges, the motif of the week and its milestones.

A reason to come back every day

  • Three potter's challenges a day: complete a given motif, pave lines, reach a score.
  • A motif of the week, the same for everyone: it opens every game, is worth double, and passes three milestones to earn its seal.
  • A daily streak that climbs from 50 to 200 tesserae, with one forgiven day per week.
The shop: tile theme previews, prices in tesserae and the equipped theme.

Thirteen tile themes

Andalusian zellige, Nabeul fakhari, Sejnane clay, Qallaline faience, Kairouan stone, Sidi Bou Saïd blue, Seville azulejos…

  • Each theme changes the material of the board: Sejnane clay is matte, speckled and crazed, while faience shines.
  • You earn them along the Journey, or buy them with the tesserae you collect while playing.
  • Any theme can be tried for one game before you buy it.
The motif gallery: discovered motifs in gold with their counter, the others as silhouettes.

Nineteen motifs to discover

From the sacred square to the protective khomsa, by way of the Nabeul fish, the Qallaline cypress and the Sejnane bird.

  • A completed motif joins the gallery with its completion count, its value in points and its cultural note.
  • The others stay as silhouettes, with the hint that tells you how to meet them.
